New Jersey: High Point

The high point in New Jersey is appropriately, if not creatively, named High Point. At the summit lies a 220ft obelisk monument and nice views from both the base and the top. Rising 1,803ft above sea level, the New Jersey high point ranks at #40 for tallest state high points. There is a large parking lot in High Point State Park and the office even rents snowshoes for winter recreation. During most of the winter, however, the monument base and monument itself are closed to visitors "due to potential icy conditions." Per the NJ Parks website, access to the base is usually re-opened in May.

Directions:
Take Route 23 approximately 7 miles north of the town of Sussex, NJ or 4 miles south of Port Jervis, NY. Both the park office and the main entrance to the park on located on Route 23.
