Rhode Island holds the distinction of being ranked the 46th lowest high point of the fifty states, surveying in at 811ft (some say 812, but who's counting). This high point is accessible via a short 0.17mi flat and well maintained trail from Rhode Island Route 101. There are no particular views (the high point is in the woods), and the hike is short and uneventful (although if you choose to hike in winter, you may want snowshoes depending on snow depth). This high point really is achieved just to check the box. That said, the high points of CT and MA are only a few hours away, so bag this "peak" on your way and claim to be the highest person in Rhode Island for a few minutes.
Gear Recommendations:
This is another easy summit in that a highway runs to within 0.17mi of the high point. If the weather is bad, we recommend the usual warmth layers, gloves, hats, etc. Boots are handy in the snow or mud. The trail is well maintained with ample signage (as of 2020).
